Formerly the least desired housing option for students, MacKenzie Complex was the focus of a four-phase renovation. Phase One includes the Commons and a prototype for the towers and rowhouses.
The first floor of the Commons previously housed offices and unused space. Students now living in MacKenzie enjoy a large open gathering space that encourages and supports community within the complex. It features a fitness center, a café, updated laundry facilities and plenty of lounge and study space. The design itself features contemporary yet timeless finishes with a clean, rustic look. The use of stone, wood and tile along with colors in natural tones complements the design.
The Commons features a 35-foot-tall atrium that enables natural light to filter through the first and second floors. Water features and plants throughout enhance the natural feel. Renovation of the suites in the towers and rowhouses included study lounges, social lounges, kitchenettes and bathrooms. MacKenzie now serves as a vibrant hub of the campus community and a popular and desirable housing option for students.
