The Somerset Academy Silver Palms Charter School Gymnasium Annex is a two-story, gymnasium/classroom building in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The gymnasium annex is an addition to an existing classroom building and is designed to provide not only recreational and event facilities for the school, but also spaces for music, weight training and performing arts programs. The design and subsequent construction of the gymnasium considered the ongoing operations of the school throughout the academic year.

When completed, the structure formed the third wall of an exterior recreation courtyard that has become the central gathering space for students and staff.
The gym itself is wrapped on two sides by a two-story wing that activates the overall building’s response to the surrounding site and walkways.

The large two-story indoor space accommodates both athletic and social events, transforming its interior by way of lighting, technology and physical adjustments.
