Entries on either side of the lobby allow students, staff and the community to enter the building safely, and administration can observe all who enter.
The lobby is a learning and sharing space. Display areas showcase student work, study topics and community artifacts.
The theme “Times around the world” directed the lobby’s design and helps students understand Farmington’s place in the world. This theme is illustrated in the floor’s terrazzo pattern, which represents longitudinal and latitudinal lines and is echoed in the lighting pattern above. Multiple clocks display times from cities around the world, and a large world time-zone map serves as a reference. Further plans include displaying flags from around the world.
The lobby is the primary access point and center of the building. Entrances off the lobby lead to the administrative offices, cafetorium, the community education facility and classroom areas. The doors provide zoning, depending on facility usage needs.
The community lobby, washed with natural light, is a welcoming entrance for students, staff, parents and community, and reveals the nurturing culture and focus on learning at Meadowview.
