Liberty Ridge Elementary School

The school district repeated this flexible prototype because it supports curriculum and educational delivery philosophy. It benefited from using this plan because it would be constructed quickly, continue equity in the district and accommodate community use.
The school district collaborated with a developer that needed a focus for its planned community. Liberty Ridge was the first building in the development and provided a draw to the model homes.
The developer provided fill for the school’s building pad and parking lots from recycled bedrock and soils excavated during construction. The school worked with the city to realign roadways and utilities for the community. The school’s compact footprint supported the city’s plan by maximizing green space.
Liberty Ridge’s accessibility encourages community participation in activities. The gym contains enhanced sound systems and meets strict acoustical requirements for flexible use. The commons provides community space without compromising building security.
The school took advantage of utility companies’ incentives to conserve energy. Strategies to lower the school’s energy use included material and system selection, window glazing alternatives, alternative lighting and controls, and mechanical efficiency controls.
