Kahler Slater partnered with Moser Mayer Phoenix Associates to design the state-of-the art Nursing, Allied Health Science, Simulation Center. This LEED Gold-certified project, a collaboration of three higher education institutions and one healthcare provider, was completed as a public/private partnership.
Among the key project components are innovative healthcare simulation, education and collaboration spaces. One challenge was to create an ideal learning environment to meet the needs of all four institutions. The facility provides medical surgical, ICU, and LDRP spaces, an operating room, simulation rooms and standardized patient exam rooms; as well as a home health apartment. Additional learning spaces provide flexible learning environments and debrief and collaboration spaces. The spaces are representative of realistic healthcare environments that help students transition easily from education to patient care.
The interior palette creates a unique brand identity, inclusive of all participating institutions. A neutral palette with vibrant greens, reds, and yellows provides inviting spaces for students. Warm wood accents identify collaboration zones and help organize the building.
