Providing a full line of architectural door hardware for the new arts building at The Chaminade College Preparatory School was a labor of love for architectural door hardware manufacturer Hager Companies, as several members of the Hager family have attended the school throughout the years.  The new 77,000+ square foot art center provides students a 1,000 seat auditorium, a 150-seat black box theater, art and design studios, individual music practice rooms and an art gallery concourse that connects the public and student entrances. There are also broadcast studios, faculty offices, a photography darkroom and mechanical and electrical rooms.

Due to the high level of noise that music, art and kids can sometimes produce providing sound and light seals around the door assemblies was extremely important to prevent sound transmission from traveling outside of those spaces.  Also taken into consideration was the abuse the door hardware would receive that is typical in an educational facility.   The Hager Companies specification team assisted the architect in specifying Hager Co. Grade 1 products including Roton continuous hinges, exit devices, mortise locks and closers to minimize wear and tear.
