Harvard Medical School, Gordon Hall

Renovating the atrium of historic “Building A” at Harvard Medical School (HMS) has transformed it into a bright, active center of faculty, student and administrative life. The skylight was restored and reconstructed to expose the frame structure, and clear glass was installed to admit sky views and natural light. New functions introduced around the atrium encourage interaction among students, faculty and staff.
The architect provided programming, space planning, architectural and interior design services for reconfiguration of the 4,200-square-foot third-floor space for the HMS Academy and offices of multi-cultural affairs, student affairs, program enrichment and resource development. The building has been renamed for donors Ellen and Melvin Gordon.
