East Texas Baptist University, Chapel on the Hill and Kenny Ponder Park
Marshall, Texas
After an initial gift from Gene and Patsy Ponder of Marshall, East Texas Baptist University’s Chapel on the Hill and Kenny Ponder Park broke ground in August 2019 and opened in October 2020. The chapel and park serve as a place of worship to focus on the power of prayer, the sanctity of biblical marriage, and the celebration of loved ones. In addition to the main Chapel Hall, boasting space for more than 200 guests, the Chapel on the Hill features a grand foyer, bridal suite, groom’s study, and more. Overlooking the adjacent Kenny Ponder Park, the Chapel Hall offers views that provide a sense of peace and serenity for guests on any occasion. Kenny Ponder Park was created to be a peaceful and beautiful outdoor area with gardens, walking paths, rock features, benches, and arbor surrounding the university’s campus pond. The park offers benches and swings for people to sit and enjoy serenity and peace, with a beautiful view of the University Park Pond.
