Central Missouri State University, James C. Kirkpatrick Library
Warrensburg, Missouri
Kirkpatrick Library is an advanced information center that supports Central Missouri State University’s mission as a leader in technology integration in teaching and research.
Detailed limestone on the exterior reinforces the campus’ architectural tradition. Glass openings provide daylight inside and views of campus. On the interior, sophisticated indirect lighting facilitates computer use and reading.
A dramatic, three-story atrium with glass elevators and an open stair of stainless steel, glass and stone is the major vertical circulation element.
Access services, reserve reading room, browsing collections, classroom, computer labs and museum/archives are on level one. Information services, special collections and supporting staff areas are on level two. General library collections and reading spaces are on level three.
Technology includes data network supporting research and study areas; electronic access to journals and books; interlibrary catalog search and loan via the Internet; multimedia-development workstations and production center; and distance-learning classrooms.
