Barren County Schools wanted to offer career pathway programs for students and hired RBS Design Group to design a new Career and Technical Education Center, aka “Innovation Zone.” The project also included improvements to Chapatcha Athletic Complex, home of Trojan Field football stadium.

A two-story facility, the lower level is dedicated to athletics—locker rooms, restrooms and the concessions. The upper story—the Innovation Zone—houses classrooms and labs. The Innovation Zone was carefully designed to prepare Barren County students for both postsecondary education and careers in family and consumer sciences, business administration, health sciences, engineering, IT and many other fields.

Classrooms overlook the football field and serve as skyboxes during games. Improvements to the athletic complex included new grandstand stadium seating, new synthetic turf field, LED lighting, storm drainage, an eight-lane track, fencing, and sewer relocation.
