THE SOCIETY FOR COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY PLANNING (SCUP) NAMES FIRST STAFF PRESIDENT

The Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) has named Michael D. Moss, CAE, as the society’s first president. He will begin work in early October 2014. 
 
The current executive director, Jolene Knapp, CAE, is retiring.
 
Moss currently serves as chief operating officer of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) in Houston, TX. He is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) with more than 22 years of association management experience, including IFMA, NACE International, the Warehousing Education and Research Council, the Chemical Industry Council of Illinois, and the Saginaw Bay Watershed Council.
 
“Mike stood out among the hundreds of job candidates as the individual who had the knowledge, passion, and vision to take SCUP to the next level of its development as a professional association,” said Ellen Stanton Milstone, chair of the society’s board of directors. “He brings a proven track record of enhancing the scope and quality of programs, building revenue, working with boards and volunteer leaders, and growing membership. As we begin our society’s 50th anniversary year, we believe we havefound the right person to strategically grow SCUP in the right way.”
 
“I am honored to be selected to serve as the president of SCUP,” said Moss. “The organization has a great history and a solid foundation for future opportunities and growth. I look forward to working closely with the staff, board of directors, members and strategic partners in fulfilling our mission and vision of advancing integrated planning in higher education.”
 
SCUP provides resources on best planning practices for senior higher education administrators with a focus on the integration of academic and strategic planning, institutional direction and effectiveness, accreditation, financial and facilities planning, resource and budget planning, risk management, student learning, sustainability, and technology planning.
