Ronald H. Fanning, AIA, PE, CEFP, NCEE, was named as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the recent World Congress on Educational Environments in San Antonio, Texas, hosted by the Council of Educational Facility Planners International (CEFPI). This award, the highest and most prestigious honor conferred by CEFPI, is designed to recognize an individual who has distinguished themselves by making significant lasting contributions to the educational facility planning industry throughout their career.
For more than 50 years, Ron Fanning, chairman emeritus of Fanning Howey, has provided national leadership in the effort to bring visibility to the condition of America’s school buildings, advocating the modernization of school facilities to support 21st-century educational programs. During his career, Ron Fanning has been involved in the planning and design of more than 1,000 new and renovated K-12 schools.
“Ron Fanning personifies a true lifetime of dedication and contribution to the betterment of educational facilities. But, perhaps his greatest contribution to the industry has come through his service and support to CEFPI, where he has done much to advance our organization. President of the CEFPI Board of Directors in 2003, Ron Fanning has maintained a lifetime commitment to CEFPI, serving as a colleague, mentor and friend to many of the organization’s current and future leaders,” says Irene Nigaglioni, chairman, CEFPI.
