Warren Hills Elementary School

Faced with a 5 to 6 percent annual student growth, Liberty School District was challenged with maintaining high-quality education standards while expanding and building facilities. The process is enhanced when all stakeholders know and actively support the local school system, and thus good communication was the cornerstone of the district’s approach to creating a supportive environment.
Warren Hills represents the second new elementary school as part of the district’s ambitious strategic plan. The K-5 school accommodates up to 600 students and uses a central curved corridor with integrated, custom-painted murals reflecting the history of Liberty. The plan enables the academic areas to be locked down, allowing after-hours access to the remaining areas.
The classroom wings are situated around a central, shared learning environment where group or individual learning can occur while a teacher maintains direct supervision. The design includes a centrally situated special learning resource center shared by the entire school, which includes a large, 115-seat lecture hall, and individual and small-group learning areas. Separate bus/parent dropoff entrances allow efficient access and egress, yet all students still pass a central observation point.
