Vincennes University, Gibson County Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics

Vincennes University is the oldest college in Indiana and was established in 1801 by future President William Henry Harrison. The newest establishment to Vincennes University is the Gibson County Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics, which is situated on the flat landscape of southwest Indiana. This 40-acre site in Fort Branch, Ind., was designed to meet the modern and technical fundamentals of a state-of-the-art-facility. The 58,528-square-foot facility was designed as the first piece of an anticipated eight- to 10-structure satellite campus.

Sustainability was an important consideration for Vincennes University. This project used daylighting with sun shading, reflective TPO roofing, low-flush toilets, low-VOC paint, energy-efficient building envelope materials, and stormwater retention that feeds site irrigation.

The Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics caters to the growing needs of the area and offers multiple programs that cover a vast array of subjects from normal university courses to robotics and tool and die. It also facilitates employee training and re-training programs for businesses such as auto manufacturers and coal-mining companies.
