Designed to move the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s College of Business Administration beyond its core responsibility, Mammel Hall creates an environment that encourages the college’s business partners, donors and future employers to remain engaged with the vibrant, on-campus community.
The building also creates a "front door" for the campus and is organized around two, three-story atriums. The primary entry leads into an open, collaborative space, integrating bridges to technology-enriched classrooms on either side of the atrium space. The secondary atrium provides additional light to the space, supporting open and enclosed student areas with additional soft seating for study and socializing.
The incorporation of a circular exterior plaza unifies the geometry of the building while creating seating space for students and faculty to interact formally and informally. These outdoor spaces are enhanced further through the intelligent use of native landscaping, further reinforcing the college’s commitment to sustainability.
Having received the first LEED gold designation within the University of Nebraska system, the facility captures and treats 20 percent of rainwater runoff, incorporates daylighting strategies and reduces overall energy consumption by about 30 percent.
