University of Iowa, Kinnick Stadium
Iowa City, Iowa
The renovation and expansion of the University of Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium focused on adding modern amenities and expanding capacity while preserving the history and traditions of this beloved facility.
The first phase included new south endzone seating that added 13,000 seats; a new concourse with concessions, ticketing and restrooms; and a new scoreboard. Phase II, which opened in fall 2006, included an addition on the stadium’s west side, which features a new press box, 46 private suites, a private 130-seat indoor club, a private 1,150-seat outdoor club and a catering kitchen. A new field level with team and coaches’ locker rooms, a media interview room and ancillary spaces completed the project.
The expansion/renovation project increased the stadium’s capacity to 70,585, making it one of the 20 largest college-owned stadiums in the country and enhancing the game-day experience for Hawkeye athletes, students, alumni and fans.
