The Center for Public Safety, Forensic Science & Security at the University of Central Florida is a three-story tilt-wall building that will provide state-of-the-art research, testing, administrative and related space dedicated to public safety and security.
The building will be home to a partnership of the University of Central Florida Center for Public Safety, Forensic Science and Security, The National Center for Forensic Science and the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division. Research and development, training and educational activities will be done in conjunction with domestic and international agencies such as the FBI, NIJ, U.S. Postal Service and the Secret Service.
The multipurpose nature of the center requires maximum communication for the exchange of information, flexibility and future expansion. The design solution met these goals by creating expanded floor plates that facilitate larger and more flexible laboratory spaces. The introduction of a three-story communicating space will generate both the symbolic and physical linkages among the individual spaces and for building occupants. The building will establish a dynamic architectural image befitting the program’s national prominence.
