The new Performing Arts Auditorium was developed and constructed as part of Troy Buchanan High School in the Lincoln County R-III School District. The new precast concrete constructed facility includes a house that seats just under 800 patrons, a full performance stage (with fly-space), and a main lobby and gathering space.
Additional support spaces include scene storage/construction, toilets, and control mezzanine. The theater portion of the building (including the main lobby, house, and stage) is constructed as a storm shelter that meets ICC 500 and FEMA requirements.
The critical challenge for this project was developing and building a state-of-the-art performance auditorium that is used by both the high school and the local community for drama, choir, band, dance and other activities, while maintaining a working high school campus. In addition, these spaces and the building had to be integrated with a storm shelter design that has the capacity to house the entire student body and staff of Troy Buchanan High School.
