The University of Georgia, Myers Hall

Situated on the historic Myers Quadrangle of the University of Georgia, Myers Hall, which was built in 1953, originally served as a “traditional” 472-bed residential community reflective of the era. Working closely with the Office of the University Architect and the Department of University Housing, the design team captured the spirit of current student campus life while respecting the building’s rich heritage and architectural history.
Thoughtful planning, material selection and natural light contribute to the function and ambience of each space. Lounges, multipurpose spaces, conference rooms, study spaces and offices have been incorporated or expanded to promote the feeling of a “residential community” and to foster more interaction among students.
The renovated hall offers about 400 beds arranged in different cluster configurations of doubles, singles and “super” suite units, including fully ADA-accessible suites. In addition, residents have the ability to stay connected anywhere within the building via new voice, data and video connections.
The result is a residence hall that enriches each student’s living/learning experience and offers a better alternative to off-campus living.
