Set within the coastal foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains overlooking the Pacific Ocean, The Mountain at Mullin Park reimagines collegiate recreation, athletics, and community engagement at Pepperdine University. Designed as a dynamic campus destination, the project integrates wellness, performance, and social connection through architecture that responds to both its dramatic natural setting and the evolving needs of the university community.

Drawing inspiration from Pepperdine’s Spanish Revival character, the complex creates a contemporary, student-centered environment defined by openness, transparency, and connection to place. Landscaped pathways, terraced entries, expansive glazing, and panoramic ocean views reinforce a seamless relationship between the built environment and the Malibu coastline.

At the heart of the project is a multilevel recreation center featuring modern fitness and collaborative spaces that promote wellness and everyday student life. The centerpiece is Waves Arena, the new home of Pepperdine Basketball and Volleyball, designed to host athletics, concerts, and university events for up to 4,400 attendees. More than an athletics facility, the project reflects Pepperdine’s commitment to wellness, connection, and holistic student development.
