This project is bordered on the south, west and north by existing academic buildings and an urban network of ornate brick and brownstone buildings. This new academic building, surrounded by landscaped plazas, will serve as the center of the lower campus. It also will act as a transition between the urban grid of the lower campus and the radial grid of the upper campus.
The program calls for several functions to be incorporated into the six-story building: an executive training center, instructional classrooms and lecture halls, conference space, student study areas, faculty/administrative offices, a library, and a full-service executive restaurant and lounge with rooftop terraces. The facility will provide formal and informal academic space to create a learning environment for students and professors. This facility is above and adjacent to a new multilevel parking structure. The roofs of the garage act as landscaped plazas.
The building’s cladding includes brick veneer and a precast concrete atrium, glass curtainwall, stainless-steel panels and structured glass walls. It aims to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
