St. Peter High School
St. Peter, Minnesota
Design team: Paul Lawton, LEED AP; Jason Hoehn, PE
Partnering with the City of St. Peter, ISG led a pre-referendum community engagement process that helped build the momentum needed to pass a $58.3 million referendum to pay for a new high school. In addition to offering modern classrooms that foster student collaboration and flexibility, the school provides and integrates space for performing arts and athletic opportunities, as well as community and education needs.
Community is bolstered in the commons, where students can sit at any of the various loose seating options, congregate before and after events in the open space, or view the names of community supporters along a donor wall art feature. The state-of-the-art auditorium included in the design has become a community asset and was booked for community and district use throughout its inaugural summer.
The commons extend outdoors with a district and community gathering space featuring a terrace for dining, decorative paving and seating options, as well as an outdoor classroom and reading garden.
