Southern Methodist University, Dedman Life Sciences Building
Dallas, Texas
This project consists of a science teaching and research building for the Department of Biological Sciences. The building was designed to reflect the predominant style of architecture of the campus, Collegiate Georgian. For the building’s interior, unique teaching and research laboratory layouts were developed to respond to the specific programs and teaching methodologies used by the university.
All laboratories were designed using the modular lab planning approach to yield maximum usable space and cost efficiency. This approach created laboratories that are both highly adaptable and generic. The building also provides teaching and computer laboratories, which are supported with the latest high technology.
This building will fulfill Southern Methodist University’s goals of providing first-class research laboratories and recruiting top research scientists who will focus their teaching and teaching/research in science-related fields.
