The Sarah and Troy LaGrone Advanced Technology Complex, situated in the Denton Independent School District, is a 128,792-square-foot specialized facility. The educational program offers a customized, hands-on, state-of-the-art career and technical training center. The designers responded by creating a facility that prepares students in the trade-specific technical and professional skills necessary to compete in a high-demand occupational environment. Offering advanced-technology courses for high school students and adults, the complex also is a professional training center designed to prepare individuals for current and future careers.
Designed to accommodate a diverse range of specialized curriculum, the facility contains nine unique academies, each designed to reflect “real-world” working environments. The academies include education, legal and protective services, personal services, computer technology, medical/applied health science, pre-
engineering, visual arts and communication, business, marketing and finance, and applied technology.
The Advanced Technology Complex is truly “one of a kind.” There is no other facility in the nation that combines all of these specialized venues on one campus. Through the execution of strategic solutions for many project challenges, the end users and design professionals executed a plan that is intended to raise the bar for future educational facilities not only in Texas, but also across the nation.
