The Commons has become a true success story. The proximity to student housing, the improved foodservice capabilities, and the attention to architectural detail enhance the overall college experience. With the golden statue of Diana to greet students and rich earth tones of marble colonnades, the Commons reveals itself not just as a dining hall, but an extension of the university.
The Commons is conceptually designed around a central rotunda, from where the dining rooms, conference rooms and food court radiate. It features an expanded bookstore and post office, and a curved marble walkway that allows access to The Commons and student union. The Commons provides a state-of-the-art electronic forum for seminars, theatrical performances, and an area to socialize.
Community groups can gather for meetings in the conference rooms or private dining rooms. All of this ensures the full time use by students and the neighborhood, making the Commons a welcomed addition to Salisbury State University.
