Rossford Junior High / High School Remodel
Rossford, Ohio
This historic Rossford school, built in the 1920s, was lacking a sense of cohesion because of multiple additions over its lifetime. Because of critical infrastructure issues (such as flooding in the tunnels that connected the additions) the district passed a bond program that enabled it to tear down the existing additions and make way for new, unified construction while keeping historic elements that were part of the original building.
The theater, an important space in the original building, was given a facelift that saved unique features such as the dramatic proscenium arch over the stage and vaulted ceilings. New choir, band, and music rooms were added to support the school’s arts program.
Other new or renovated spaces include the football stadium, science classrooms, art rooms, a maker space, a special needs/life skills lab, and a media center. Flexible technology-rich classrooms have multiple seating configurations and computers shared by all students with the ability to run powerful software programs. The football stadium had a complete overhaul, including new stands, press box, and a turf field.
