Roberto and Dr. Francisco Jiménez Elementary School, Administration Building
Santa Maria, California
In an effort to keep up with increasing enrollment, the Santa Maria-Bonita School District has opened the doors of a new elementary school for the growing Santa Maria Valley. The modern learning campus is the first dual-immersion elementary school for the district and was completed in time for the 2015-16 school year.
The Roberto & Dr. Francisco Jiménez Elementary School Administration Building serves as the front door in welcoming students and visitors onto the campus.
The administrative building was designed to provide administrators and staff with visual access to the main parking lot, campus core, and playground to ensure student wellbeing and safety. LED lighting was incorporated into the space, and clerestory windows were installed to take advantage of daylight.
Working with the local utility company enabled the district to take advantage of the Savings by Design program.
The 7,000-square-foot administration building houses:
• A reception desk
• Administrative offices
• A student library
• A student computer lab
• A special-needs classroom
• A nurse’s office
• A staff lounge
