Purdue University, Windsor Dining Court

Windsor Hall, the oldest women’s residence on campus, comprises five buildings constructed over 20 years beginning in 1934. Amelia Earhart, Lillian Gilbreth and astronaut Janice Voss Ford are a few of the famous women who called Windsor home while studying at Purdue.
Windsor Dining Court, which provides meal service for all five buildings, serves more than 700 young women every day. In order to maintain the facility’s historical fabric, architects were challenged to incorporate a modern design theme with the traditional “look and feel” of the original design. Ultimately, the confined space in Windsor’s basement was transformed into an inviting, yet efficient dining atmosphere that blends well with other recently modernized campus dining facilities.
Windsor contains multiple dining areas with seating for 500. Eight service areas offer food styles ranging from typical American to Southeast Asian and Italian. Earth-toned clay tile, and oak accents and furniture define and separate dining and servicing areas, while features such as a gas-log fireplace provide the intimate look and feel of a high-end restaurant.
