Cybersecurity is at the forefront of a university’s needs and challenges. The Secure Center of Excellence is dedicated to emerging ideas and needs related to cybersecurity research, continually monitoring the field to identify pivotal research ideas.
The Secure Center renovates the Gilchrist Engineering Building’s first and second floors, positioned at the front and most visible locations to increase the school’s profile. The exterior entry and the lobby has integrated ceiling and linear lighting, metallic surfaces, patterned tile and intricate binary logo signage to highlight the technology-rich interior. The lobby’s LED display welcomes students with school information and cybersecurity threat statistics. Window film outside the administration wing enables privacy and visuals.
In the board room, bold multicolored bands play off the school’s logo. Daylighting, transparent pendant light and varied furniture convey sleek comfort.
Movable furniture and glass walls encourage collaboration in the labs, accommodating a variety of learning experiences for a wide range of competencies. A state-of-the-art central server rack enables scalability and adaptability of networks. The design supports student expectations for dynamic, real-world scenarios while fostering pride of ownership.
