The Novogratz Center for Athletics provides a new home for Poly Prep’s prestigious wrestling and squash programs.
To be cost effective, the building uses a pre-engineered steel structural system that was customized to meet the specific needs of the school.
The first floor is a 12,500-square-foot dedicated squash center with four practice courts, two all-glass, competition courts and spectator seating. This level connects through the existing gymnasium to four existing squash courts.
The second floor is the new home for the wrestling team. The 11,500-square-foot gymnasium is configured to host wrestling matches and tournaments. The gym can be reconfigured for fencing, basketball, volleyball and other court sports.
A 733-square-foot outdoor terrace provides 270-degree views of the Verrazano Bridge and surrounding Poly Prep athletic fields.
The 3,430-square-foot Mezzanine Level provides restroom facilities and athletic department office space and was designed to align with the same level as the adjacent Legacy Gymnasium, offering a shortcut between the facilities.
