Because of tremendous growth, Nova Southeastern University’s College of Allied Health and Nursing required relocation to a new space in order to accommodate triple the amount of beds for their students.

The program specifically focuses on nursing skills training. The project is situated in a one-story storefront adjacent to the university’s medical campus. The existing building was built over a retention pond, which made for a challenging installation of under-slab utilities. Exterior improvements consisted of waterproofing the walls and patching of the existing roof. The existing interior partitions were removed completely, and the new work was rebuilt within a bare shell.

All interior spaces now incorporate a contemporary aesthetic. The interior construction utilized materials and methods to mitigate the transmission of noise through floor-to-floor partitions with sound-attenuated insulation and vinyl composition tiles on the floor in the lab areas for easy cleanup.

The classroom and multipurpose rooms incorporate a bed and medical column for ease of demonstration prior to the students making their way to the lab.
