The relocation and expansion of the audiology department for Nova Southeastern University (NSU) is a 4,046-square-foot interior buildout that will house the Hearing & Balance Clinic and Audiology Lab. This build-out was in compliance to ANSI S3.1, maximum permissible ambient noise levels for audiometric test rooms.

Audiology’s Hearing & Balance Clinic services both adult and pediatrics. The clinic was moved from its previous location in a clinical building within NSU’s Health Professions Division.

The clinic has state-of-the-art sound booths, hearing aid rooms and electrophysiology. The audiology lab is in the same suite as the clinic and meant to act as clinical overflow. The lab is a replication of the sound booths, hearing-aid rooms and electrophysiology. The balance of the space is made up of reception, office and other general support spaces.

The audiology department expansion will now enable the clinical functions to run independently of the academic exercises within the lab, thus exposing the student to the latest technologies and transfer of knowledge into a practical clinical application.
