After nearly 50 years of service, Northrop High School needed a renovation that encompassed nearly all aspects of the building. Mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems were completely overhauled. The envelope of the building was restored with thermally efficient windows and doors, and restored masonry. The interior office was relocated into an addition that created a new front door to the building. Interior departments and instructional areas were relocated within the building, and technology and equipment were replaced to meet current school district standards. Interior design and finishes were coordinated with district standards while allowing school-specific branding to reflect school pride of students and staff. Classes were in session throughout construction; this required the creation of temporary classrooms and corridors, and a series of phases to minimize disruption to the educational environment.
