Serving more than 2,500 meals daily, the 20,000-square-foot International Village Dining Hall anchors a new development at Northeastern University that is anticipated to become certified as the nation’s largest LEED gold residential complex.

The project advances Northeastern’s global reputation and reflects its environmental consciousness while encouraging students to dine on campus through top-quality world cuisine and welcoming urban interiors space including:

•Individual, asymmetric serving stations showcasing made-to-order food in an open, "boulevard"-style layout that maximizes service efficiency.

•Varied, sunlighted dining/socializing space including communal tables, plush couches and counter seating.

•Floor-to-ceiling windows that connect the facility to the Northeastern campus community and neighboring urban context.

•LEED gold certification: comprehensive composting, energy efficiency and water-saving plumbing fixtures.

Since opening in fall 2009, the project has exceeded usage expectations and been dubbed "the Mess Hall of the Future" by The Boston Globe. In addition to anticipated LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, it is one of only 16 facilities to earn three-star certification from the Green Restaurant Association.
