The new 3,200-seat, state-of-the-art Northeastern State University Event Center is where Riverhawk pride takes flight. Designed to meet the needs of the university in hosting a multitude of events, the key to this facility is flexibility. In addition to athletics, the center provides opportunities to attract events that will both add to the collegiate experience and enhance the quality of life for the greater community. Situated at the front door into the campus, the building forms a new gateway element that greets arriving visitors while its angled sitting nods back towards the main campus. Synergy with an adjacent football complex and indoor practice facility helps to define a university athletics zone. The building’s dynamic wingspan roof evokes the Riverhawk mascot and appears to float on backlit clerestory glazing. A shiny metal panel exterior ties back to campus vernacular with a red brick rusticated base and vertical masonry accents. A feature element near the front entrance beckons students, alumni and the community to all “meet at the rain chain.”
