Norman North High School, College and Career Center
Norman, Oklahoma
The College and Career Center is an affirmation of the Norman Public Schools’ goal to expand education opportunities for its students and faculty.
Increased student engagement drove the need for additional dedicated infrastructure at Norman North High School. Goals for the new College and Career Center addition were to prepare students for the college experience by exposing them to modern technology and instruction theory. The space a provides seamless transition of learning spaces that are mindful of the way students, faculty and community interact. Understanding that the world is about collaboration and project-based learning, the College and Career Center focuses on community life and offers a “living room” for students that supports that kind of learning environment.
The design also features dynamic architecture to energize and reorder the campus with a new identity. The two-story addition offers traditional classrooms, and administrative and counselor office spaces, with a strong highlight on collaborative and independent study areas. The “grand” entrance is a statement of its own as it beckons those who enter to expand their knowledge.
