NeoCity Academy
Kissimmee, Florida
NeoCity Academy is a STEM-focused public high school designed to be zero-net-energy through the use of building-mounted solar panels and other strategic sustainable design elements. The 45,000-square-foot facility uses a high-performance tilt-wall building envelope and MEP system designed to support and enhance the immersive learning environments housed within.
The project was designed within state-mandated size guidelines and budget requirements and will realize a 76% energy efficiency over a typical school, resulting in a minimum energy savings of $89,000 per year. With the added solar panels, the school should expect an energy savings of more than $115,000 per year and a reduction in building maintenance and operating costs. The entire school facility is used as a teaching tool for the students.
