Mt. San Jacinto College Temecula Valley Campus
Temecula, California
Mt. San Jacinto Community College District purchased a five-story facility to provide educational opportunities for the population of students in Temecula and surrounding areas. The site consists of parking, a central plant building and two five-story towers. 19six Architects were brought on board to help bring the entire building up to higher life safety standards and plan for the one tower’s dynamic renovation.
Creating this vertical campus provides high-quality, accessible, equitable and innovative educational programs for students to achieve their academic, career and personal development goals. The new campus provides space for a welcome center, all student services, health center, dining, bookstore, library/learning resource center, conference and board rooms, faculty offices, classrooms, computer and science labs, lecture room, collaboration spaces, art room and support services.
The campus is designed with an emphasis on shared spaces where students from different classes can collaborate in a team environment. Transparency and visibility throughout the interior are key design features, with glass walls providing views into the active labs, classrooms, and group collaboration areas.
