Mt. San Jacinto College, Temecula Valley Campus
Temecula, California
Mt. San Jacinto Community College District purchased a 367,000-square-foot, five-story facility to provide educational opportunities for students in Temecula and surrounding areas. The site consists of parking, a central plant building, and two five-story towers.
19six Architects were brought on board to aid the district in bringing the buildings up to higher life safety standards and planning for one tower’s dynamic renovation to convert the office buildings into a college campus. The goal was to create a vertical campus that provides quality, accessible, equitable and innovative educational programs so students can achieve their academic, career and personal development goals.
Once completed, this new facility will include a welcome center, all student services, health center, dining, bookstore, library/Learning Resource Center, conference and board rooms, faculty offices, classrooms, computer and science labs, lecture room, STEM center, collaboration spaces, and support services. The campus is designed with an emphasis on shared spaces where students from different classes can collaborate in a team environment. Transparency and visibility throughout the interior are key design features. Glass walls provide views into the active labs, classrooms, and group collaboration areas.
