Replacing a 1950s-era middle school on the same site, Mount Jordan Middle School is designed specifically to support the Canyons School District’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) curriculum and to foster student engagement and collaboration.
The building offers innovative teaching spaces at multiples scales to facilitate the educational process. Grade-level learning communities have open, multi-class collaboration areas and team project spaces. Small breakout rooms and think tanks offer places for quiet individual learning or small group discussion. In total, the school has six learning communities defined with vibrant colors, modular furniture arrangements, an abundance of natural light, and stunning views of the Wasatch Front Mountains.
Unique partnerships with the surrounding community have enhanced art functions within the school, including a Broadway-style auditorium that serves the school district and the community.
With visually stimulating finishes and custom graphics, the building environment is designed as a tool for learning and is an example of how high-quality design can spark curiosity, wonder and the imagination of students, faculty and staff.
