Morehead, Kentucky
Three entities united to construct a building for a medically underserved region of Kentucky, to train and retain healthcare-profession students after graduation. St. Claire Medical Center provided Morehead State University the site it needed for its programs, as well as for the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. With the goal of providing integrated healthcare education, clinical services and patient education, this collaboration has created an interdisciplinary and interprofessional healthcare educational model.
St. Claire Regional Medical Center received continuing-education space for healthcare providers and its Primary Care Clinic, which features exam rooms, a dental clinic, outpatient radiology, provider offices and a waiting area.
Morehead State University gained the space it needed to expand its nursing, imaging sciences and physician-assistant programs. Its portion of the facility offers laboratories, offices, classrooms and seminar rooms that accommodate varied size classes.
Finally, the University of Kentucky received administrative space for its health professions and facilities for the College of Medicine’s Family Medicine Residency Program.
This project result is a successful collaboration for healthcare education.
