Miami University, Western Campus Residence Halls

Miami University acquired Western College for Women, now known as Western Campus, in 1974. Beechwoods, Stonebridge and Hillcrest, Western’s new residence halls, acknowledge the formal architecture of Miami while evoking a unique aesthetic. With commonalities such as pitched roofs, bay windows and traditional detailing, they nod to the Main Campus, while reflecting modern college life.
The first design-build higher education project in Ohio, Western was designed to achieve LEED Silver certification, reflecting the university’s commitment to the environment and the future of its students. Stonebridge stands closest to the heart of campus and tells the story of Miami’s heritage of red brick before flowing into the modern, stone-clad architecture of Western. This architectural evolution flows across Beechwoods and arrives at the stunning modern design of Hillcrest, farthest into Western Campus.
The interiors showcase student life at its finest. Expanses of glass bring indoor and outdoor environments together with light, views and activity. Common areas include full kitchens, collaborative studies and fireplaces where students can warm up after long walks across campus during Ohio’s chilly winters.
