The project was a major upgrade to a 40-year-old stadium seating 18,750 spectators—one of the largest high school stadiums in Texas. The facility serves the district’s five high schools for football, soccer, and band competitions. Because of its size, the stadium has long been one of the premier venues in Texas for regional athletic and band competitions.
Major goals for the project were to modernize the stadium’s appearance and construct a new, larger press box, with elevator access, and to meet Texas 5A and 6A high school football game requirements. The new press box includes extensive media and technology additions.
Other requirements were to install IT and media technology infrastructure; to enlarge the concourse areas; to improve spectator access to restrooms and concessions; to expand concourse-level viewing areas; to enlarge the space for concessions queuing and serving lines; to construct new, larger home and visitor team locker rooms at the field level; to provide upgraded security; to better separate performing students from spectators; to improve loading zones at the field level; and to provide more on-site circulation for buses and trucks.
