The new Lincoln County High School serves a community population that’s rich in history, student pride and desires a high level of school involvement, including its policies and accomplishments. Each of the four existing high schools held a high degree of community significance, but lacked instructional resources for students. Therefore, a new school that combined all four schools into one was designed with these needs as a top priority.
The new school facility serves the programming and instructional needs of students and staff, and meets the expectations of community residents. Responding to concerns from students, staff and community, and because of the condition of existing science lab facilities, the new facility is more functional and flexible with state-of-the-art equipment.
The planning committee focused on science and technology as integral components of the instructional program. Partnerships with the community college and local healthcare providers were created to enhance the learning environment through the incorporation of this practical expertise within educational programming. A distance-learning lab for additional college courses and a vocational agriculture lab were introduced, as well as an auditorium for expanding and improving musical performances and theater facilities.
