As the inaugural building on Lanier Technical College’s new campus in Winder, Ga., this full-service career development center supports cerebral programs such as allied health sciences and business technology. Additionally, technical career excellence will be provided from automotive technology, welding, mecha-tronics and commercial refrigeration trades programs. Academic affairs, student services and collaboration/student commons spaces also are included.

Creating an efficient design vocabulary that encompasses a variety of learning programs and providing unique breakout spaces for student collaboration were paramount throughout the design process. Visual access to study areas will showcase research and promote interaction with student researchers. Innovative use of technology throughout the facility will ensure 21st-century learning collaboration among students, faculty and visiting guests. 

The building was sited to preserve land for future campus expansion, and is designed to complement an adjacent high school career academy. The design team worked closely with stakeholders of each project to plan a campus that offers a welcome collegiate experience to the community and blends together architecturally as a cohesive campus.
