Lakeville South High School

The Lakeville School District’s focus in building its second high school was to increase the potential and opportunity for collaboration among students, staff and the community.
The design addresses this in several ways. The high school includes an active commons for social activities and a passive commons for learning resources and lockers. The central core hosts three levels of interactive services, including administration, student services and a multimedia center.
Learning resource areas were designed to increase small-group interaction. Also, an integrated industrial- arts and sciences learning resource center offers more interdisciplinary instruction opportunities. Finally, a number of shared-use spaces allow community use and interaction.
A 1,000-seat auditorium, an adjacent black-box theater, a walking track and a variety of gymnasiums comprise these shared spaces. The exterior of the school is masonry. The entire building is WiFi, with VoIP technology.
