Situated next to an existing county soccer complex, the two-story school is organized into three grade houses, each comprised of a cluster of core classrooms for grades 6,7 and 8. Built of face brick and split-face block, the building features a window in every classroom, flooding the facility with natural light.
A standard voice, data and video distribution system—capable of future expansion to handle more media distribution hardware—is incorporated throughout the building. Each grade house features both a Technology 2000 and computer lab. The gymnasium, auditorium, and media center are accessible to the public for after-hours use, while the academic sections of the school can remain secured.
The project, bid in 1996 within the school board’s budget, adds recreational resources such as tennis and basketball courts and softball fields to the pre-existing soccer complex.
