The Jeffersonville High School Auditorium was constructed in the 1970s. The theater program has received national and international recognition for its productions. A renovation of the performance space was overdue.
A major component of the renovation called for two new pronounced entrances to the auditorium in a key location: directly across from the main gymnasium. Major elements of the entries are LED marquee and accent lighting, metal ceiling panels and award display. The space also includes custom backlighted “red devil” comedy/tragedy artwork designed by the school’s graphic designer.
Existing undersized and outdated dressing rooms were expanded and renovated to accommodate private restrooms and changing areas, makeup and hair stations with LED lighting, and an abundance of prop and costume storage.
These support spaces are situated around a 1,022-seat auditorium. The concept updates the original 1970s seating with new seating that meets ADA requirements. Other elements include upgraded LED house lighting, proper aisle lighting, architectural 3D feature wall panels, new flooring and wall finishes. The original plaster ceiling was redefined with a restoration and multiple paint finishes.
