Brenner Design is the Architect of Record for the renovation of the Indiana University (IU) football locker room. The project was completed in association with SmithGroup, the master sports architect for IU.
The plan included a massive new locker and shower room, Legacy Hall, players lounge, facilities for sports medicine and hydrotherapy, and a coaches’ locker and shower room.
The design sought to provide a branded high-end sports environment to improve recruiting and facilitate team interaction. The focal point of the locker room is an IU-red gridiron with LED lighting that is central to the locker room. The main entry point is Legacy Hall, an area where uniform displays and awards greet the team. The players’ lounge is separated by a graphic-enhanced barn door.
The project also expanded the Circle of Excellence, an interior corridor that links all of the spaces inside the stadium. The main entrance to the locker room complex is highlighted by Legacy Hall, an area to highlight the history of the IU football program.
