Indiana State University, Scott College of Business
Terre Haute, Indiana
The new Scott College of Business at Indiana State University captures the beauty and historical value of the re-imagined Terre Haute Federal Courthouse.
The goal of the university was to maintain the historical integrity while creating a welcoming and friendly environment. Maintaining the building’s major historical elements—including the courtroom and main corridors—was key to the success of the project.
Respecting the building’s ornate detail and overall aesthetic, selective finish upgrades transform the building into a contemporary learning environment, with a focused connectivity to the outside business world.
A real-time trading lab and student-services area open to new glazed corridor walls within a former mail sorting area. A new first-floor kiosk incorporates a bank of refinished former mailboxes to create a feature element that includes wayfinding, an informational monitor and donor wall. The lower level was repurposed with new classrooms and a student commons enhanced by daylight.
The Scott College of Business is a wonderful mix of historic and new, blended perfectly to create a unique learning environment.
